Silver Dollar City - an 1880s theme park - is home to Time Traveler, the world’s fastest, steepest, and tallest spinning roller coaster along with many other rides, shows, food stations, craft vendors, and demonstrators.
We always pack a lunch since anyone can bring a backpack into the park and there are free water stations, but if you prefer, there are plenty of delicious-looking food options around the park!
Get your walking shoes on! This is the Ozarks, so there are hills galore! You’ll get a walking workout all day long. (They do have motor scooters for those that need them.)
If rides aren’t your thing, browse the many shops and watch the arts and craft vendors show off their skills at candy making, glass blowing, blacksmithing, leather working and more. There are several shows inside Silver Dollar City that come free with admission. Get in line early! Sometimes you may have to wait an hour in line to get a good seat. The shows rotate throughout the year, providing variety.
Trees provide a nice canopy of shade in many places, and the water rides make cooling off in hot weather a breeze!
A tour of Marvel Cave, the original attraction that put this spot on the map, is included in the price of admission! It’s a great place to cool down during the hot part of the day and tours depart every half hour. (They often fill up fast!) Don’t try walking the cave if you can’t do a lot of stairs! Marvel Cave is a fun little attraction and a nice, 60 minute addition to your day!
Tip: Get their app in order to check ride wait times on the go and skip the waiting in lines! My personal favorite rides are Powder Keg, Wildfire, and of course, Time Traveler! There are plenty of rides for smaller kids too at Fireman's Landing and the Grand Exhibition.
Tip: If you have small kids, make sure to put a wristband on them with your cell number and name in case your child gets lost! The staff are trained to check for those wristbands if there is a small kid all by himself.
Silver Dollar City has an outstanding Christmas season celebration called Christmas in Midtown. Prepare to be dazzled! The millions of lights they string up are an impressive spectacle, and the shows/plays also change to include old favorites like Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol”.
