Wisconsin!

We left home Saturday morning, heading for Dubuque to spend several hours enjoying the town before leaving Iowa and driving into Platteville Wisconsin for our evening program. The Calico Bean in Cable Car Square, one of our stops, was home to a rainbow array of sprinkles of which they sell 500 pounds annually. Besides sprinkles, we looked at green bean chips, rows of spices, and hoards of candy, each of us children choosing a flavor of honey stick such as sour raspberry before leaving for another shop. Sampling Italian cuisine and finding a few keepers at a used book store were a couple more highlights of our afternoon. Our concert in Platteville went well Saturday evening.

When we had lost our way on the trip home, we enjoyed the historic architecture, even if we happened to come across the same houses 3 or 4 times!

South Dakota Trip

As you can see by the pictures, our trip to South Dakota was not uneventful. The two Saturday programs went well, but during Saturday night on into Sunday morning, there was an ice storm. Our Sunday morning church service was cancelled so our host spontaneously invited us to play at his church that morning. We played to a wonderful, although small, crowd of 9 or 10 people that braved the icy roads to come to church. The power couldn’t seem to decide whether it was going to stay on or go off, so we went ahead without our sound system and had a marvelous time just the same. Our evening concert went well too and we drove back, arriving home after 3 a.m.
